Apple Nokia Patent Lawsuit

Nokia has filed a lawsuit against Apple in federal court in the Western District of Wisconsin, stating that the product Apple 3G iPhone and iPad violating five patents essential Nokia.

Patents in question relate to technologies for the "speech" and improved data transmission, using the position data in applications and innovations in antenna configuration that can improve performance and save space, which allows the device smaller and more compact. This patented innovation is critical to the success of Nokia because it provides increased product performance and design.

"Nokia has become a leading technology developer of many keys on mobile devices" said Paul Melin, General Manager, Patent Licensing in Nokia. "We have taken steps to protect our pioneering development results and to end the unauthorized use of Nokia continued innovation."

Over the past two decades, Nokia has invested about USD 40 billion in research and development and built one of the wireless industry's strongest and broadest portfolio of IPR, with more than 11,000 patent families. Nokia is a world leader in the development of handheld devices and mobile communications technology, which is also indicated by a strong patent portfolio of Nokia.
